The Temple Owls (1-1) made the cross town trek to historic Franklin Field to face the Penn Quakers on a brisk Sunday afternoon. Another defensive battle witnessed a 9-8 Penn victory.
A back and forth first quarter ended with both squads knotted up at 2-2. The Temple offense bogged down and only found rope twice in the next two quarters. Penn was not faring much better but, were able to put up five tallies and after 3 it was Penn in charge, 7-4.
The Owls took a well timed timeout and the troops regathered as LSM Chad Hrivnak changed the flow of the affair and ignited a four goal run to seize temporary Temple control at 8-7.
Temporary was roughly a minute as Penn countered to get things even with about 5:00 to play. It stayed deadlocked until Penn notched the go ahead goal and re-took the lead, 9-8 with 1:20 to play/ Temple controlled the draw but clanged a shot off the iron. Penn was able to run out the clock to send the Owls to defeat.
Dis and Dat:
Temple is idle for a few weeks when they welcome Loyola to town for a 7:30 game on March 15. Temple, despite struggling, were able to get goals from 8 different shooters (Luke Brennan, Chris Koch, Tyler Fink, Tanner Haines, Chad Hrivnak, Michael Hudak and Brandon Feeney).
